Hiver Nomade – Open-air knitting cinema
Together with Breicabine, PeriFeria will set in motion a knitting cavalcade this year. A nomadic assembly of sheep’s, wool and knitting enthusiasts traces ‘de Schapenweg’, a historic transhumance that ran through the western edge of Brussels.
On Friday 15 September the knitting cavalcade makes a stop on ‘de Schapenweg’ near Jette and Zellik for an open-air screening of the documentary film Hiver Nomade by Swiss film maker Manuel von Stürler.
Hiver Nomade tells the story of Carole and Pascal who make a 600 km long transhumance accompanied by 3 donkeys, 4 dogs and 800 sheep in the middle of winter. In search for food to feed the flock and a shelter for the night. The film sketches a moving picture of a traditional nomadic form of herding which is practiced less and less in our urbanized landscape.
During the film you can knit!
